SentriLock

The MAAR MLS uses the SentriLock lockbox system, developed to include some of REALTORS®' most frequently requested features. SentriLock's system is Web-based so all lockbox settings and showing information are easily accessible from any Internet connected computer. MAAR holds Sentricard classes every Friday from 10am-Noon at the MAAR office. For assistance with your lockbox or SentriCard®, visit www.sentrilock.com or contact SentriLock directly:

The message light is flashing and the lockbox is beeping. What does that mean?
When you insert your SentriCard® into your lockbox and the Message light flashes and the lockbox beeps 10 times, this indicates a low battery. This will only happen when the owner of the lockbox inserts their card. When other agents insert their card, they will get an error light after the battery life gets too low to operate the lockbox. Back to top.

How do I change my lockbox battery?
You will need a small allen wrench or tork wrench, available at MAAR, and one 2 CR5 6-volt battery. You can purchase the battery at most stores but MAAR has them at a special discounted rate for members.
  1. Using your wrench, remove the back battery plate located on the back of the Generation I and II boxes. Try to avoid using too much force and stripping the screws.
  2. Remove the old battery.
  3. Insert the new battery.
  4. Replace the battery plate. Back to top.

How can I preserve my lockbox’s battery?

  1. Lock the keypad to prevent it from becoming accidentally activated and draining the battery.
» Insert your SentriCard®, your 4 digit pin code and Enter
    » Function 6 7 and Enter.
» Simply insert your SentriCard® into the lockbox to unlock the keypad when you are ready to use it again.
  2. Do not leave your SentriCard® in the lockbox for extended periods of time. Leaving your card in the lockbox will shorten the battery’s life.
  3. Avoid excessive heat. Store lockboxes in a cool, dry location when they are not being used. Back to top.
The error light comes on when I enter my pin code. What does that mean?
There are usually four reasons this occurs:
  1. Your SentriCard® has expired (see How do I renew my SentriCard®?)
  2. The Card Stop element is broken. To determine if this is the problem:
» Slowly slide your SentriCard® into the box until the Card light comes on and stop.
» If the light moves to Code, stop inserting your card, enter your code and hit Function 1 to remove the shackle and take the box to MAAR for a quick repair. If the box is not yours, call the listing agent and let them know they need to take the box to MAAR for repair.
» But if the light still moves to Error, check the next two reasons.
  3. The lockbox clock needs to be reset (see "how do I reset my lockbox clock?" below.)
  4. The lockbox belongs to another person and the battery is low. Please call the listing agent to let them know. Back to top.
How do I reset my lockbox clock?
Using a card reader log onto (or go to www.sentrilock.com and log on by using your ID followed by “ -MAAR” and your password.)
  1. To the left on the main page, you will see Set Lockbox Clock. Click the link.
  2. Find the lockbox by serial number and click on it.
  3. There will be a message letting you know that the card must be inserted as soon as possible. Click OK.
  4. You will have 48 hours to insert the card into the lockbox before the clock reset is invalid.
  5. Insert your SentriCard® in the lockbox. There will be a chirping sound and the light will go to Ready. Back to top.

How do I open the key compartment of a lockbox?

  1. Insert your SentriCard® into the lockbox. Wait for the light to move from Card to Code.
  2. Enter your pin code and Enter.
  3. Function 3 Enter or simply pull your card out of the box.
  4. The older boxes will pop open on their own while the new NXT box key chambers must be manually opened. Back to top.

If the lockbox belongs to you:
  1. Insert your SentriCard® into the lockbox. Wait for the light to move from Card to Code.
  2. Enter your pin code and Enter.

  1. Insert your SentriCard® into the lockbox,
  2. Put your Pin code in and Enter
  3. Function 1, the agent’s shackle code and Enter. Back to top.
Is there a time restriction for accessing lockboxes?
Yes - they follow the 7/11 rule. The lockboxes can only be accessed between 7am and 11pm. Back to top.

How can I find out who has accessed my lockboxes?
There are two ways for a lockbox owner to obtain access information.

Quick Read (Less Effective) Access Log:

  1. Using a card reader, hit Login instead of Renew (or go to www.sentrilock.com and log on by using your ID followed by “ - MAAR” and your password.)
  2. Choose the tab My Lockboxes and click on View Access Log to the right of the lockbox serial number in question.
  3. Anyone who has opened the lockbox will appear on the list once they have updated their Sentricard. If they have not renewed their card, they will not show on the access log.

Hard Read (Very Effective) at the lockbox:

  1. Insert your SentriCard® into the lockbox in question, your pin code and Enter.
  2. Hit Function 7 and Enter and wait for the light to move to Ready.
  3. Note the serial number of the lockbox.
  4. Using a card reader, update your card.
  5. When the renewal is finished, hit the Login button.
  6. Choose the tab My Lockboxes and click on View Access Log to the right of the lockbox serial number in question.
  7. Anyone who has accessed the lockbox since the last shackle removal will be on the list with the date and time, whether they have updated their card or not. Back to top.

How can I find a list of the lockboxes I own?

  1. Using a card reader, hit Login instead of Renew (or go to www.sentrilock.com and log on by using your ID followed by “ - MAAR” and your password.)
  2. Choose the tab My Lockboxes. Back to top.
Can I sell a lockbox that belongs to me?
You can sell your lockbox to a fellow member of MAAR’s MLS. The agent does not have to be a member of the same office but does have to be a member of the same association MLS for the boxes to work. Back to top.

How do I transfer ownership of my lockbox if I sell it to another agent?
If you are still an active member:
  1. Using a card reader, hit Login instead of Renew (or go to www.sentrilock.com and log on by using your ID followed by “ - MAAR” and your password.)
  2. Choose the My Lockboxes tab and click on the serial number of the box you wish to transfer.
  3. Click the Transfer button
  4. Under New Owner, choose option 2 and select an agent. You can either call the agent up by name, company or their member number.
  5. Select the dot next to their name and click OK
  6. When you have returned to the transfer page, select Submit Transfer Request.
  7. The agent will have 48 hours to complete the pending transfer by:
    » Updating their card
» Inserting the updated card into the lockbox
    » Updating their card again.
  8. Failure to complete those three steps in the 48 hour window will cause the lockbox to revert back to the original owner.

If you are no longer a MAAR member:

  1. You must write a letter explaining that you have given permission for the lockbox to be transferred.
  2. Include the agent’s name and the lockbox serial number. The letter must have your signature at the bottom.
  3. The agent will then bring the letter and the lockbox to MAAR where it will be transferred into their name. Back to top.

How do I renew my SentriCard®?
Insert your SentriCard® into a card reader until you hear a small click. The light on the card reader will change from red to green and your log in ID will auto-fill followed by “- MAAR”. Enter your password and hit Renew. Wait for the screen to confirm that the transfer of information is complete and make a note of your next expiration date. In an emergency, a CARS code can be generated by Sentrilock to renew your card at a lockbox. This renewal will only last for 24 hours and agents are limited in the number of times a CARS code can be used during a month. Back to top.

How long is the SentriCard® renewal period?
You must renew your SentriCard® a minimum of every 7 days. While this may seem excessive, it is a very necessary action to allow the maximum transfer of information between our members and Sentrilock. This also allows for the best security and accountability pertaining to showings. Back to top.

Who can use my SentriCard®?
Only the SentriCard® holder can use the card. Assistants, fellow REALTORS®, spouses and other family members are not allowed to use your card and you will be subject to a $15,000 fine for violating this rule and risk losing Sentrilock privileges. Back to top.

My SentriCard® has been lost or stolen. What should I do?
You will need to fill out a Lost or Stolen Card Affidavit and have it signed by your broker before you come in. Take the form to MAAR and a replacement card will be created for you immediately. Back to top.

My SentriCard® is damaged. What should I do?
Take the damaged card to MAAR and a replacement card will be created for you immediately. Back to top.
