On the fins of Syfy Channel’s “Sharknado” and Discovery Channel Shark Week, Urban Land Institute (ULI) Memphis and the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR) Commercial Council are pitting fresh projects against investment predators in a Shark Tank event. Tailored after the popular TV show and similar events produced by ULI San Francisco and held at ULI Council meetings, this event brings together Memphis area real estate entrepreneurs who will vet their proposals to a panel of “sharks”- our expert investors bringing decades of experience to the tank. The goals of the event are to offer the audience a look behind closed doors at an investment committee review process, and to offer the entrepreneurs real feedback they can use to fine-tune their proposals for real life presentations.
Reeled in? Get in the Tank!
This is a spectator sport! Audience members experienced Shark Tank live, by attending the event on Tuesday, September 24 at Theatre Memphis. Spectators get a behind-boardroom-doors look at an investment committee review process, and learned along with the presenters what criteria investors examine. In addition, the audience was able to interact with both presenters and our “sharks” in the last part of the program. Another program is already in the works, so stay tuned for details about the next Shark Tank Memphis event!
